Today I empathized.

Today I empathized.

Good·will·ing·ness = Empathy.

Today–in an entirely defenseless and exasperative moment of grief and anger–I empathized with another person. I could have been selfish. Believe me, I could have been. But that would have benefited one person only, and for merely a snippet in time at that. Instead, I opted to benefit someone else and myself (and hopefully for more than a moment) by prioritizing empathy. Sometimes winning an argument means losing the debate but walking away a more compassionate human. Here’s to empathy and the reign of moral victories.
